Locus Removal from Windows XP

This topic describes the steps to remove Locus from your computer. It assumes that Locus was successfully installed in the first place. It is important to remove Locus before attempting to re-install it with the full installer. Please also remember that removal is required by the License Agreement if you decide not to purchase a license after the Evaluation Period has expired.

Removal Procedure
  1. If Locus is running, turn it off (Ctrl-Q). If the Locus User Manual is open, close it.

  2. Launch the Windows Control Panel. You can usually launch it from the Windows Start menu as shown below:

  3.
  4. Run the "Add or Remove Programs" applet shown below. Note: Your Control Panel may look different, depending on its contents and style.

  5.
  6. It may take a few seconds for your computer to populate the "Add or Remove Programs" list. Once it has finished, select "Locus 1.0" and click on its "Change/Remove" button to launch the removal tool.

  7.
  8. You'll be prompted to confirm that you really want to remove Locus 1.0 as shown below. Select "Yes".

  9.
  10. If some of the system files were installed for the first time with Locus, you may also see another dialog (not shown) asking if you want to remove them, too. As long as you haven't installed any other programs after Locus, tell it to remove them all. A progress dialog (shown below) will appear briefly while Locus is being removed. Its appearance may be so brief that you may not notice it.

  11.
  12. A message like the one shown below will appear after Locus has been successfully removed. Click on the "OK" button to exit the removal tool.

  13.
  14. Optional: If you've previously launched Locus, the program may have created a temporary file to save its last state so it can restore things like units the next time you launch the program. If this is the case, the removal tool may not have removed the installation folder where Locus was installed. The default path and folder is: "c:\Program Files\HT Locus\". If desired, you can navigate to this folder with the Windows Explorer and delete it and its contents.

This concludes the removal procedure for Windows XP.
