Locus Camera Database Update
17-Apr-2009
New cameras are frequently introduced to the market. As information becomes available, we'll try to add them to the Locus camera database. When we do, we'll offer free updates of the camera database to users of Locus. If your camera is not included in our database and is not included in this update, then please contact us at
and we'll add it if sufficient information is available. In order to add a camera to the database we need to know its format size (the size of the image area of the camera's image sensor or film frame) and, if digital, its native image resolution.
IMPORTANT: The new 17-Apr-2009 camera database has more than just specs for new cameras. It also has new data for old cameras because we have added Format Type designations to the database. This makes a traditional "update" impossible. With a traditional "update", you would download and run an "updater" program that would modify or replace only the database files. This won't work in this case because the new database requires the new version 1.0.4 of Locus. Plus the new version of Locus also has other changes that make a full installation necessary.
All users with an older version of Locus will need to remove the old program first and install the new version with the full installer. Registered users will then need to enter their original registration codes again in order to use the new program. We apologize for this inconvenience but we could see no other way to provide you with the new database features and the improved Windows Vista compliance.

If you have previously tried Locus and its Evaluation Period has expired, then installing the new version will not extend or reset your Evaluation Period. If your Evaluation Period with an earlier version of Locus has not yet expired, then don't install the new program until after you have finished evaluating Locus because the new version will cause an early termination of an existing Evaluation Period and there will be no way to start a new Evaluation Period on the computer.
