Locus Camera Database Update
28-Mar-2008
New cameras are frequently introduced to the market. As information becomes available, we'll try to add them to the Locus camera database. When we do, we'll offer free updates of the camera database to users of Locus. If your camera is not included in our database and is not included in this update, then please contact us at
and we'll add it if sufficient information is available. In order to add a camera to the database we need to know its format size (the size of the image area of the camera's image sensor or film frame) and, if digital, its native image resolution.
Camera database updates are intended only for users who have already installed Locus because they contain only the files necessary to replace your old camera database with the new one. If you have not yet installed Locus, then you should go to our main Download page for the full install. It also includes the latest camera database so you won't need to use this update.
If you have previously tried Locus and its Evaluation Period has expired, then this database update will not extend or reset your Evaluation Period. If this applies to you, you can still replace your old copy of the Locus camera database; but you won't be able to use Locus until you purchase a license for it. For more information on purchasing a license, please see our Purchase page.
Important: This update will replace your old copy of the camera database (file "cameras.cam") with the new one. If you have made changes to the old one, they will be lost!
Installing a Locus camera database update involves the following steps:
- Download the updater by clicking on the "DOWNLOAD" link at the top right column above. Important: Do not run the updater over the internet. It must be run from your computer. This means that you must "Save" it to your computer first.
- After the updater file has been saved to your computer, make sure that Locus is not running and then "Run" the downloaded file to launch the updater. If you don't want to run it right away, you can double-click on the file later.
- The updater will search your computer for your copy of Locus and it will replace its old camera database with the new one. An error message will appear if it cannot locate an existing copy of Locus.
Notes: Your Windows user account will probably need "administrator" priviledges to run the updater. Windows Vista users: When you start the updater, you will be asked to confirm that you want to run the updater and, after it has completed, you will be asked to confirm that it functioned properly.
